Home > For Australian Interns > Professional Internships in Germany Professional Internships in GermanyParticipants in this program will have the ideal combination of a professional internship, which will provide invaluable experience in their chosen field and the opportunity to live abroad and explore the rich German language and culture. It offers a practical and economical way to experience Germany and make good contacts for your future career. This program will begin with a minimum 4 week German language course in Berlin followed by a professional internship in the field of your choice. You will be guaranteed an internship placement with a German company for a length of 4 – 24 weeks. Internships can be undertaken in a range of industries including business administration, human resources, language teaching, marketing, hospitality, sports and more. Location Our German Language School is located in the heart of Berlin in the trendy Prenzlauer Berg. This part of the old East Berlin is full of galleries, bars, clubs and fashion stores featuring Berlin designers. With 40 classrooms and 50 studios on sight, students are able to live and learn in the same location. Our campus also features a cafeteria, restaurant, sporting facilities, lounge, bicycle rental, bookstore and travel agent. The premises is wheelchair accessible. Applicant requirements Applicants must be aged 18 years or over and must have upper intermediate German language skills. A written test will be required for application, and a thorough German language placement test will be given on arrival. Length of Program The program contains two parts. The first is a German language course which must be taken for a minimum of 4 weeks. The second component is the internship which can be taken for 6 to 24 weeks. Minimum time commitment required is 10 weeks. Working conditions Internships can be undertaken in a range of industries including marketing, banking, insurance, travel and tourism, graphic design, social services, political organisations and communication. Other fields are available on request. You will be expected to work full time hours and to be an active member of your host company. The actual role will depend on the host company, your German language skills and your previous studies and experience. Language Requirements
Applicants are expected to speak German at an upper intermediate level or above. You will be required to complete a written German exam with your initial application. On arrival at our German language school you will be given a German language placement test which will determine your level of studies. Please note that if your German language teacher deems your German level too low to enter your internship, you will be required to extend your German language course until you reach the required level. This will be at an additional expense to the student. Visa requirements No visa is required for those residing in Germany for less than 3 months. If you wish to stay longer than three months, our staff in Berlin will assist you arrange the necessary permit.
